Information Required for LP Series Troubleshooting

When you post a problem here — or open a ticket with LaserPecker — these are the details that get it solved on the first reply instead of the fourth.

Always include

  1. Machine and module. "LP4 with the fiber module" not "my LaserPecker". If your machine has two sources, say which one was running.
  2. Firmware version, from the machine info screen in LDS.
  3. Software and version — LDS PC, LDS app (which OS), or LightBurn.
  4. Connection type — USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth — and whether the other one works.
  5. Material, thickness and supplier. "3mm birch ply" tells us far more than "wood".
  6. Exact settings: power %, speed and units, passes, DPI or line interval, air assist on/off.
  7. What changed. Nine times in ten something did: new material batch, new router, moved the machine, cleaned something, updated firmware.

Add if relevant

  • A photo of the failed result next to a good one, in raking light
  • A photo of the protective lens, held against white paper
  • A short video if the problem is a noise or a movement
  • The full text of any error message, not a paraphrase

Before you post

Two checks that resolve most "it worked last week" reports:

  • Clean the protective lens. A haze you can barely see costs 20–30% of your power.
  • Run a focus ramp test. Prop scrap at an angle, engrave one line, find the thinnest point. If that disagrees with your focus gauge, believe the ramp.

LaserPecker publish their own documentation on this topic — worth reading alongside these community notes.
