Layered mandala wall art — 5 layers

A five-layer mandala designed for backlighting, with each layer on its own colour so you can map power per layer in LDS or LightBurn.

• Spacer rings at 3mm and 6mm
• Greyscale single-sheet variant for anyone who'd rather engrave than cut
• Backing plate with a channel for an LED strip

Design notes

Layer apertures step down at roughly 65% per layer, which is what gives visible depth once it's lit — layers with similar aperture sizes read as one flat surface regardless of how far apart you space them. There's a short note in the archive explaining the ratio so you can redraw at other sizes.

Cut in 3mm birch ply; also tested in 3mm poplar. Stain alternate layers a shade darker for more depth.
