A set of trays that tessellate in a standard 500 × 400mm drawer. No glue, no screws — friction-fit finger joints tuned to my measured kerf so they hold firmly and still come apart when you want to reconfigure.
The kerf work
Measured kerf on my LX2 in 3mm birch is 0.15mm. For a friction fit I drew the tabs at nominal and the slots at nominal minus 0.06mm — slightly tight, so it takes a firm push and then stays put. Anything tighter and 3mm ply splits at the corner.
Test one joint before you cut thirty. I cut eight trays with the slots 0.12mm undersize and split five of them.

- 250 × 100mm (long tools)
- 125 × 100mm (half)
- 125 × 50mm (small parts)
Any combination fills the drawer exactly, which is the whole point.
Finish
Sanded to 240, one coat of hard-wax oil. Skip the oil on the inside faces or the friction fit loosens.
